Extraction of hemi-cellulose from hardwood sawdust using a mild-acids pretreatment. There will be no additional extract total energy and less COD load on effluent water. The invention combines modern filter-press techniques and/or flow centrifugation. The final products are retained volumes or higher amount of pulp using unaltered pulp-making equipment, and the extra energy used during hemi-cellulose extraction is saved by a 5% reduction in not having a large fraction of waste hemi-cellulose not even entering the pulp mill.
